Ship It Right: Marketplace Requirements for the Organizations Track

So you want to ship to the Slack Marketplace. We love that for you — and we want to make sure your hard work actually qualifies. Here's what you need to know.

The Slack Agent for Organizations track is built for apps that live on the Slack Marketplace — the place where thousands of orgs go to find tools they can actually trust. Every app in the Slack Marketplace is reviewed and tested to ensure that the apps published are ones that our review team determine to be high-quality, reliable, and useful.

The Slack Marketplace has specific submission requirements that must be followed for your hackathon entry to qualify, including, but not limited to:

  • Installed on at least 5 active workspaces (an active workspace is a workspace that has been used in the past 28 days)
  • Fully built and tested; no "coming soon" apps, no private betas, nothing untested
  • A complete listing: An app name, short description, long description, app icon, images and screenshots
  • Working links to a landing page, support page and privacy policy

One more thing: your app must be built in a production workspace, not your developer sandbox, to submit it to the Slack Marketplace. The sandbox is for testing and judging. If you don't have a production workspace, just spin up a free Slack workspace.

If your app isn't quite there yet on the Marketplace requirements, no stress. Check the requirements for the New Slack Agent and Slack Agent for Good tracks to see if one of those is a better fit.

Good luck!
